1 Hour Guided Pisa Tour Itinerary

Visiting the historic city of Pisa is a once-in-a-lifetime experience and definitely shouldn’t be missed by any lover of history and culture. Led throughout this rapid one-hour tour by a professional guide, you’ll get up close to all the world-class attractions found here, including the Cathedral, the Baptistery and, of course, the much-loved Leaning Tower.

Pisa’s Campo dei Miracoli – the Square of Miracles in English – is one of the most significant ancient complexes anywhere in the world. Selected as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1987, this sprawling space is found close to the north-western edge of Pisa’s medieval walls and is explored by millions of visitors each year.

On this tour, your guide will offer you an introduction to the remarkable history behind this famous square, describing each of its four ‘Miracles’ in great detail. You’ll also take a tour of the incredible Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta, which represents the world’s finest example of Pisan Romanesque architecture.

Designed by Buscheto in 1064, the Cathedral combines a wealth of influences, including Byzantine and Islamic styles that were brought to Italy by sailors who returned after travelling the world. A raging fire may have damaged the Cathedral back in 1595, but most of the masterpieces remain in perfect condition, including Cimabue’s mosaic of St John the Evangelist and the extravagant Pulpit.

Back outside, wander the bustling square and admire the incredible beauty of the Baptistery and the Camposanto. Not to be forgotten, the Leaning Tower of Pisa is undeniably one of the world’s most recognizable structures. Don’t be afraid to take a few stereotypical photos – you might only ever visit this incredible slanting tower once. In addition to the guided visit of the Cathedral, this tour also allows you to book advance tickets to the Leaning Tower.

The Square of Miracles is truly a wonderful place that any visitor to Italy simply has to make time for. This one-hour tour might fly by, but your memories of this unique place will surely last forever.
